Details, Details, Details.. Oh my! 04.28.12  |  Weddings

Details! Yay! I have to admit to you all that I am an absolute sucker for cool, fun, funky details. Nothing makes your wedding more personal then picking interesting decor, favors and treats that showcase you and your fiance's personalities. I love being able to walk into a wedding and being able to get an instant idea of what makes that couple different. I always strive to capture all those details in as many ways as possible because I know that the couple spent so much time, thought (not to mention money) putting all of that together for their friends and family. Plus, I think details are just as important as any of the other photos I might capture that day because they really help to tell the story of the wedding.

Here is a stylized shoot that we did recently that showcases some fun ideas for decor and wedding favors. Most importantly to me (because I have a very active sweet tooth) are the fun ideas for a treat/candy bar for guests. If I did my job correctly, by the end of this post you should be running out to the store for a bottle of champagne and some goodies! Enjoy :)

Tan + Linc 03.15.12  |  Weddings

The saying goes, to create a successful relationship you should always try to meet your partner in the middle. Tan and Linc (short for Tanya and Lincoln) have got this little piece of advice down, since they actually met each other when they were both thousands of miles away from their homes. Tanya is from Canada, Lincoln is from Australia and they met each other halfway in London when they became room mates while living abroad. Although they lived together for a few years, it wasn't until they were separated by Tanya moving away that they realized the connection. They reunited in Australia a little while later and have been together ever since! Because their families and friends would be coming from all over the world, they decided that the best meeting place for all of them would be at the beautiful Olowalu Plantation on Maui. The reception centerpieces featured enlarged Scrabble tiles, which celebrated their love for board games and especially Tanya's competitive personality.

I had an amazing time capturing all the wonderful moments that made up Tan and Linc's wedding day and I'm really excited to share some of my favorite photos with you! Tanya, I hope you enjoy this blog post, I had to make one just for you since you expressed to me what a fan you are of our blog :)

Bali 01.11.12  |  Weddings

Melissa met Kelvin a few years ago through her sister, Vanessa. What started out as a group of friends hanging out, eventually led to a romantic relationship between the two of them. They enjoy traveling together and during their trip to O`ahu last March, Melissa and Kelvin asked Evonne & Darren of Visionari SF, who were living in Honolulu at the time, to do a sunset portrait session of them at Ala Moana Beach Park. During the photo session, Kelvin was so caught up in the moment that he spontaneously decided to get down on one knee and asked Melissa to spend the rest of her life with him, even though he didn't have the ring on him! Needless to say, Melissa said YES and they celebrated with a lovely dinner at Mariposa, Neiman Marcus!

Bali was where Melissa and Kelvin had their first vacation together and a favorite destination for both of them. Also, they have both always wanted an outdoorsy wedding near the beach or ocean. Given that most of their family and friends live in Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia, Bali became a natural choice for their destination wedding.

The ceremony and reception was held at the breathtaking Khayangan Estate in Uluwatu, which has a 180-degree view of the Indian Ocean. Guests from all over the world - London, Sydney, New York, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia were in attendance. Melissa wanted the decor to be somewhat formal yet timeless, so she opted for black and white as her wedding colors. Sinly Anfeny of Bali Paradise Wedding did a great job planning the entire wedding week.

Congratulations, Melissa and Kelvin! Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to document your special day!
